Even though it feels like magic, there is science behind myHummy. These unique toys emit 5 types of sound: white noise, pink noise, rainfall, ocean waves and amniotic fluid with heartbeat, which has been shown to improve babies’ sleep. In case of newborns the likelihood of a baby falling asleep is increased threefold in response to white noise.

Newborn babies are not used to silence. For nine months they were surrounded by sounds: mum's heartbeat, her rumbling tummy, the muffled noise of the outside world. They associate the carefully selected sounds of myHummy with the comfort and security of being in the womb.

Take the soothing, oh-so-familiar hum of myHummy with you anywhere. Due to its small size and a special Velcro fastening, the myHummy Mini is perfect to hang on a child's bed, buggy, car seat or baby carrier. You can also attach it to your hand. In the middle of myHummy Mini there is a pocket, fastened with a child-proof safety zip, which houses the Humming Heart. The Humming Heart can be operated without having to remove it from the zip pocket.

What you need to know about myHummy:

  • 12 hour non-stop mode - for those babies who need constant white noise to stay asleep.
  • A built in sleep sensor watches over your baby's sleep. The sound comes on if baby starts to stir or if there is a background noise.
  • The sound fades out after 60 minutes
  • myHummy bears are machine washable after removing the sound heart
  • All myHummies are suitable from birth
  • All functions are available at a touch of a button. There is no need to take the heart from the zip pocket in order to change the setting.

Do's and Dont's

What batteries do you recommend for myHummy?

It is extremely important to use good quality batteries to enjoy myHummy at its best. myHummy have tested many battery brands and our recommended ones are:

Single-use / disposable batteries:

- Energizer (especially Ultimate Lithium batteries)
- Maxell (alkaline)
- Varta (alkaline)

Rechargeable batteries:
- Panasonic Eneloop and Eneloop Pro

My baby is 6 (7, 8, 9+ ) months old. Is it worth getting a myHummy at this stage or is it too late to start?

The age recommendation for myHummy is 0+ and we have received a lot of positive feedback from parents of older babies. It is never too late to try white and pink noise. In fact, people of all ages use it as a sleep aid. White and pink noise has a lulling effect but also masks other sounds, so babies (and older children as well as adults) are less likely to wake up as a result of noise. You may need to try different sounds and volumes, but it is definitely worth a go!

Will white noise work for my baby?

You can try playing YouTube videos of white and pink noise first to see if your little one is receptive to the sounds. Try a few different videos and volumes, for many babies white noise is most effective when played quite loud, up to 50 decibels - this is the maximum volume recommended by many paediatricians. You can also try playing the sound continuously through the night as some babies get startled when the white noise stops - myHummy can play continuously through the night! If you find that your little one is a lover of white noise, then myHummy is a great choice for you!

I saw cheaper myHummy toys on eBay and Amazon, why is that?

The cheaper myHummy toys available on eBay and Amazon are the models that often don't feature the Sleep Sensor and non-stop stop mode, despite advertising it. They are sold by independent sellers and tend to come without English instructions.

The sound on myHummy stops abruptly / doesn't remember the volume / Sleep Sensor doesn't work.

It looks like the batteries are depleted. Try inserting new batteries of good quality - we recommend single-use Energizer, Maxell or Varta batteries. If using rechargeable batteries, please make sure they are fully charged and that all batteries have the same charge level. It is also worth checking the expiry date on batteries.

Please note: It is extremely important to use good quality batteries to avoid performance issues and having to change them often.

The Sleep Sensor doesn't work.

If you ordered your myHummy from an unofficial seller on Amazon, eBay, or any other place that is not our official UK website, chances are that you have the model that does not feature the Sleep Sensor and non-stop mode. We always advise ordering from our official UK website or official store on other marketplaces to ensure you are getting the latest model.

What are the myHummy sounds like?

You can hear all the sounds in this video (you can fast forward to about 1:20min). The white noise sounds of myHummy are electronically generated which allows for longer battery life and also for the continuity of sound. The sounds resemble: amniotic fluid with heartbeat, ocean waves, rainfall, hairdryer, vacuum cleaner. The ultimate goal is that the sounds are very effective at helping babies sleep, they may sound very similar to us but your baby will soon find their favourite!

How do you activate the non-stop mode?

To activate the non-stop mode press the button 3 times quickly. To switch back to the Sleep Sensor mode, turn myHummy off and on again. It reverts back to the Sleep Sensor mode when restarted. Here is a short video tutorial on how to use myHummy.

Does myHummy interfere with Angelcare Sensor Pads?

Angelcare advises against using any products that contain batteries if they are placed on the mattress or attached to the cot, when using a Sensor Pad. Therefore, we recommend placing your myHummy outside the cot if using the Angelcare Sensor Pad. myHummy’s Sleep Sensor will still pick up on your baby’s whimpers if placed near the cot. For more information about Angelcare Sensor Pads, please refer to the Angelcare's website
